Of rainbows and ashes

Life has changed a lot since Im back in indo and in uni. Now I think, act, look and feel different. For better or for worse, I leave it up to others to decide. Hey, Im still in the process of figuring out who I really am. 'Pencarian jati diri' is a long and winding road my friends. As long as I keep true to myself I know I'll be okay.

The current me pays more attention to how I look, what do I wear to which places and occasions. I guess my friends influenced me a lot. We talk more about guys and bgr and who-likes-who stuff, not necessarily gossip tho. I never used to look for a guy, nor did I look for a relationship. But now, thanks to my girlfriends whose eyes are always on the lookout, I find myself more actively scanning the environment for anyone decent. Im not like some of them who really wanna have a bf, as if not having one causes major sadness, Im super fine being single. Im just more aware of the opposite gender I suppose.

That being said, funniest thing is that all of us 8 girls seem to already have a guy in mind :D only 1 of us is attached on a long dist rltnshp (she's constantly missing him, poor thing) and 1 claims that she hasnt found a guy yet. That leaves me and another 6 girls who are single and we kept talking about the other gender HAHA seriously can you imagine me cuddling up with other girls and we talk about... Well, guys?

Haha I wish I can see the look on lydia's or bua's or maura's or ping's or mirabelle's face upon reading this.

Yours truly.

When will it be my turn?

Birthday surprises. Some people think its standard operating procedure, nothing extraordinary. Usually you come over to the birthday boy/girl 's place in the middle of the night after 00.00 with hordes of friends. There are cake, candles, happy birthday song, water and flour if desired. You wake the birthday person up, force / drag / lift him off his bed, out of his room. Outside, usually the cake comes first, the birthday boy makes a wish and blows all the candles. Then he cuts a piece of the cake and give it to the closest person to him, we call it 'first cake'. Afterwards come the part where everyone starts bullying him around, splashing water all over the place, throwing flour at him til he's covered with white stuff from head to toe, so on so forth. Of course it doesnt always happen in this order. Oh and usually there'll be lots of photo taking.

I personally find birthday surprises fascinating. Its a sign of how much you are loved. These people went through all the troubles to gather people up in the middle of the night, stay up late and wait til its officially your birthday at 00.00, bought the cake and candles and flour and soda and water and whatnot. I know because I've been in a lot of them. Most of the time I'm one of the busybodies who organises these surprises. I love the way the birthday person's face lights up with surprise and how happy we are all knowing we pulled it off nicely.

Today is Tino's birthday, one of the guys in my faculty. We went to his dorm to surprise him at around 1 am. Later on I found out that he didnt expect us to come at all, which goes to show how innocent he was HAHA (usually if its your birthday you KNOW your friends will do something for you). There were lots of ppl coming along to surprise him, guys from my faculty and from his high school (which happens to be an all-boys school) and few girls like me and my friends. The guys barged into his room, carried him downstairs and sat him down in a pool of water outside EWW his white shirt was brown from the water. We brought out the cake with the candles lit, he made a wish and blew it all out, then continue chasing down the guys to hug them (he was covered with grime remember?). We made a mixture of soda, cooking oil, dishwashing soap, soy sauce n whatnot to douse him with and the smell was utterly incredibly disgusting.

Funniest thing was he kept shouting that he was freezing cos he didnt wear his underwear. OMG HAHAHA he shouted loud some more! Well he was about to sleep so we caught him in just a shirt n boxer on -.- so yea I guess its understandable why he didnt have underwear on.

So the guys chased around, threw water n flour n stuff for a while. Then he went back to his room to change and wear something warm on (bandung is super cold at night) only to find that his guy friends broke into his room and made a huge mess inside. One of the guys said he hung Tino's underwear on the lamp wth! After he changed we brought out the cake for him to slice his first-cake. He wanted to give it to KH, one of the guys, but people were protesting and saying that he should give it to a girl. Yep, they were referring to one particular girl (they like to tease him and this girl). So he did. HA! his face was all shy and embarrased and it was super funny to watch!

After that we ate the cake, which was super awesome! Shall ask what cake it is later tho I think its either cheesecake or ice cream cake. We took lots of pictures and then we headed home. It was fun and we went back at around 2-3 am maybe while we have classes at 7am HAHA. We girls stayed over at Tasyo n Lola's dorm as it was too late to go back alone.

Apparently, the surprise really made him happy and he thanked lots of people on twitter. He truly didnt expect us to come, and according to my friend usually he doesnt get a surprise this big as his birthday always fall on an exam period. Conclusion : JOB WELL DONE :D

It was a happy moment for all of us. I just wish I can experience something like that.

Weekend!

Went for a morning run on saturday with Nungky and Gina. Unfortunately I woke up late so we left our dorm for saraga at 6.30 instead of 6.15 as planned :x sorry guys! Bought roti bakar coklat (toasted bun with chocolate spread?) for quick breakfast. IT WAS NICE! Shall try the steamed one next time :D

The 2 girls said they just wanna walk,so I ran 4-5 laps alone and walked some more laps with them. The cold morning air was a bitch! Ever tried running while its cold? The cold air makes it harder to breathe and dries up your airway >:[ fyi bandung has a higher altitude than jakarta so its colder and has wind blowing thru each day.

Afterwards,we had late breakfast and drank coconut (gonna try es teler next time :D) and went back to dorm for a shower. I was planning to get to campus by 11am the latest but I took a long nice shower and, yes you guessed it, was late again. Well I was in no rush to get to campus anyway so nevermind :P

By the time I got there it just started to rain. Thankfully, I brought my jacket along so I had something to cover my head while I ran rushed thru the drizzle. Exchange Fair was already on its way and I was impressed by the airport theme Didit used. All the

Teehee

I still have some free data to use on my Iphone so I thought I'd spend it blogging :p

Soo excited for tomorrow HAHA gonna go run in the morning with gina n nungky, hopefully I can improve my 2.4 timing. Then gonna see the Exchange Fair in campus WOOHOO anything related to AIESEC can excite me easily. Gonna see the available countries for exchange and Alanda Kariza (who happens to be my kindergarten friend I think) and many more. Then gonna head home to jakarta :)

Gosh I miss home :)
Funny thing is, I miss my home more than my parents. Like I miss my room, my brothers, my playstation our tv. But not so much of my parents. I think Im used to living away from them since my 3 years in singapore. In a way, Im used to NOT having them around, used to be apart from them. And its making me feel..guilty I guess. Especially when I see my friends still missing their parents.

Sigh

Yay finally!

HI PEEPS LONG TIME NO SEE!

Well anyway how will I see any of you thru my blog?

I know this blog has been more or less dead cos I havent found the time to write. That, and the fact that I have forgotten what I wanted to write by the time I got back to my room in front of my laptop. So I ended up with a conclusion that I need to find a way to blog while mobile, using my iphone,so whenever something pops out I can jot it down before I got too lazy.

Soo.. TA-DAA my first blog post from iphone is up! Im using an app called BlogWriter, the free Lite version. Pretty simple n plain, just what I needed :)

Hopefully this means I'll post more frequently,on a regular basis if possible.

Yours truly.
