When will it be my turn?

Birthday surprises. Some people think its standard operating procedure, nothing extraordinary. Usually you come over to the birthday boy/girl 's place in the middle of the night after 00.00 with hordes of friends. There are cake, candles, happy birthday song, water and flour if desired. You wake the birthday person up, force / drag / lift him off his bed, out of his room. Outside, usually the cake comes first, the birthday boy makes a wish and blows all the candles. Then he cuts a piece of the cake and give it to the closest person to him, we call it 'first cake'. Afterwards come the part where everyone starts bullying him around, splashing water all over the place, throwing flour at him til he's covered with white stuff from head to toe, so on so forth. Of course it doesnt always happen in this order. Oh and usually there'll be lots of photo taking.

I personally find birthday surprises fascinating. Its a sign of how much you are loved. These people went through all the troubles to gather people up in the middle of the night, stay up late and wait til its officially your birthday at 00.00, bought the cake and candles and flour and soda and water and whatnot. I know because I've been in a lot of them. Most of the time I'm one of the busybodies who organises these surprises. I love the way the birthday person's face lights up with surprise and how happy we are all knowing we pulled it off nicely.

Today is Tino's birthday, one of the guys in my faculty. We went to his dorm to surprise him at around 1 am. Later on I found out that he didnt expect us to come at all, which goes to show how innocent he was HAHA (usually if its your birthday you KNOW your friends will do something for you). There were lots of ppl coming along to surprise him, guys from my faculty and from his high school (which happens to be an all-boys school) and few girls like me and my friends. The guys barged into his room, carried him downstairs and sat him down in a pool of water outside EWW his white shirt was brown from the water. We brought out the cake with the candles lit, he made a wish and blew it all out, then continue chasing down the guys to hug them (he was covered with grime remember?). We made a mixture of soda, cooking oil, dishwashing soap, soy sauce n whatnot to douse him with and the smell was utterly incredibly disgusting.

Funniest thing was he kept shouting that he was freezing cos he didnt wear his underwear. OMG HAHAHA he shouted loud some more! Well he was about to sleep so we caught him in just a shirt n boxer on -.- so yea I guess its understandable why he didnt have underwear on.

So the guys chased around, threw water n flour n stuff for a while. Then he went back to his room to change and wear something warm on (bandung is super cold at night) only to find that his guy friends broke into his room and made a huge mess inside. One of the guys said he hung Tino's underwear on the lamp wth! After he changed we brought out the cake for him to slice his first-cake. He wanted to give it to KH, one of the guys, but people were protesting and saying that he should give it to a girl. Yep, they were referring to one particular girl (they like to tease him and this girl). So he did. HA! his face was all shy and embarrased and it was super funny to watch!

After that we ate the cake, which was super awesome! Shall ask what cake it is later tho I think its either cheesecake or ice cream cake. We took lots of pictures and then we headed home. It was fun and we went back at around 2-3 am maybe while we have classes at 7am HAHA. We girls stayed over at Tasyo n Lola's dorm as it was too late to go back alone.

Apparently, the surprise really made him happy and he thanked lots of people on twitter. He truly didnt expect us to come, and according to my friend usually he doesnt get a surprise this big as his birthday always fall on an exam period. Conclusion : JOB WELL DONE :D

It was a happy moment for all of us. I just wish I can experience something like that.

Yours truly.
